Are you interested in how to stand in your truth and love with integrity in a divided world? Brene Brown teaches us to hold space for all opinions and beliefs even those with whom we disagree. Her book, “Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone,” addresses how to belong in a polarized society. “Hate, whether directed at a person or a group, occurs because of the denial of pain. When two people bitterly disagree, it is helpful for each person to listen closely and understand the other’s point of view and what matters most to the other person. This process helps each person to gain empathy and compassion and diminishes hate. But it requires the participants to work through pain.”
