Minister’s Message for August 2026

Theme: The Fear and the Furious

Rev Abigail Schairer

Hello, Beloved Community,

Each month, we’ve been exploring topics that CSLs across the globe have also been engaging with — topics that have often been taboo in different religious teachings, and even in New Thought at times. I’m excited that we’re taking on subjects that are difficult to grapple with; they’ve often challenged me to get clear on where I stand so I can deliver a message that is both relevant and engaging.

This month is no exception. We’re delving into “The Fear and the Furious” for the month of August.

Being a very emotional child growing up, I got called names at school — hot-headed, cry baby — and labeled by others as “too emotional.” My response to the world was to tie up all my emotions and only show my “good” ones. Ever since finding Science of Mind, I’ve been grappling with loving ALL of me, including my emotions. I’ve done an inward journey of unraveling that armor and making peace with my anger by finding the benefits it gives me. I’m still in the process of discovering all it has to show me. I hope what I’ve learned so far will benefit you this month, too.

I’ve also found it interesting to notice where I feel fear. I have to ask myself: where is that coming from? Is it a justifiable fear, or a belief system I picked up along the way? And how can I use that fear — either to establish and create safety, or to root out a belief that isn’t serving me?

This month, may we all embrace the fear and the furious.

Blessings, Abigail
