My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menakem
Five Mondays, starting April 17 from 6:00-7:30 pm on Zoom (Free)
Our larger CSL organization is committed to social engagement as part of creating a world that works for everyone. The first step is always to listen, to educate ourselves. Spiritual practice results in self-awareness. As we learn, we are able to be part of the solution to the challenges of racism.
We will be using “My Grandmother’s Hands” as our book study this spring. In this book, the author teaches us about historical trauma that we carry unconsciously and how to heal it through comforting physical practices. He discusses what is common in all people as well as cultural differences between whites, blacks and police. By healing ourselves, we heal our culture and the world. The focus is on healing, not on history. Please join Francine Kitchen, RScP, in practicing this soothing approach to social engagement. This is on zoom only (with optional brief small group greetings after services on Sunday); free. Please register before Monday, April 17; email francine4us@yahoo.com to register.
